Abstract
This article provides a detailed analysis of global trade in medical goods, focusing on the challenges and lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. Emphasis is placed on the role of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in regulating trade in medical goods. The study examines the dynamics of trade before and during the pandemic, highlighting changes in supply and demand structures. It analyzes political and economic measures taken by governments to ensure access to medical supplies during the pandemic and assesses their effectiveness and impact on global supply chains. The authors find that unequal access to vaccines was linked to geopolitical interests and economic imbalances between countries. The article concludes that the system for regulating international trade in medical goods needs reform to ensure fairer and more efficient access to vital medical goods in the future.
